Starting Over

2020 was a really, really tough year. Lockdown due to Covid caused our gym to shut down, but I can’t really blame that because I can always exercise at home. I also did A LOT of stress eating in addition to slacking off on exercise. In short, I gained a grip of weight back and am basically starting over. All that weight I piled back on triggered a health crisis. In short I have a mild heart murmur that started acting up, so I went to the doctor, and turned out my blood pressure was over 200! Well into stroke range. So before anything could be done about my heart I had to get my blood pressure down. It’s been back and forth to the doctor(s) since then, but I’m out of the red zone and getting my health together. Weight is a big part of keeping all my issues under control, including the hypertension and wonky heart.

May 11th at the hospital I weighed in at 237. Today (June 27th) I’m down to 221.7. It’s coming off because I started tracking my food again and mostly staying under my calorie limit of 1500. That’s been fairly easy because there is so much stuff I’m not allowed to eat, and it’s hard to overeat on whole foods/healthy foods. I also started exercising again and just staying generally active and on my feet throughout the day. I have to be careful with exercise, I’m not running or doing strenuous stuff until I get cleared to from the cardiologist, but I am allowed to walk so I do that every day. I am finally starting to sleep more too, which deserves a whole post in itself because sleep aids weight loss. Weight loss ticker from Myfitnesspal:
